Opening Contest // Winner Gets a Title Shot // eXtreme Rules

The lights in the arena black out and the fans give a minor pop at the activity. The opening Guitar riffs of War Machine by Kiss blast over the PA and the fans, not knowing who's music it is give a minor and mixed reaction. As the drum beats start red strobe lights around the titantron flash in time. As the 16 second mark, gold pyro blasts from the stage to the ceiling startling a few of the closer fans. A man walks out from the back with a dark red tattered and faired draped over his head and concealing his face as he walks to the top of the entrance ramp. The man starts warming up for his match, shadowboxing and trowing in a few kicks and knees for good measure. The man suddenly jumps up in the air then explodes his arms and legs out from his body triggering several gold and white pyros to likewise explode around the titantron. The WEW newcomer starts to head down the ramp, face still hidden, seeming very focused and ignoring the rampside fans with their hands outstretched.

Justin Roberts: ...He is making his WEW debut, weighing in at 234 pounds and hailing from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; he is Raymond "War Machine" Phoenix!

Phoenix, as we know him, has made it to the bottom of the ramp and is standing in front of the ring steps. As The cameras move in on the very focused "War Machine" he suddenly lets out a primal roar and punches himself in the head then runs up the ring steps and jumps over the top rope and into the ring. Once inside Raymond finally reveals his face by whipping off his towel and yelling out over the fans at the hard-cam. The fans seem to enjoy this very focused and intense character and good wave of cheers emanate from the crowd and Phoenix jogs in place and shadowboxes waiting for him opponent.

Jim Ross: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to WEW's first pay-per-view, Shock of Violance! It's time for our opening contest and would you look at this guy.

Tazz: This is one intense looking dude JR, and he already has some points in my books for coming out to my old theme, ahah!

Jim Ross: Music alone isn't going to win him the match, but I don't doubt that this is going to be one hell of an opening contest! I wonder who his opponent is...

*DING, DING, DING*

As the bell rings the fans boo Damage but the man takes no notice and instead stalks Phoenix as he struggles on the mat looking for someway to get back to his feet. "The War Machine" manages to grab onto the ropes and pull himself to his feet but the second he has a vertical base "The Narcissist" jumps on the attack and a loud slap echoes through the arena originating from the knife edge chop delivered by Damage. Raymond reels from the shot just as a second slap smacks him. From the chops Damage quickly evolves into punches but this seems to have been a bad decision because once the fists start flying Phoenix goes into a defensive stance and either block or dodges the majority of the blows. Damage, getting frustrated, trows a wide right and in the split second he's given Phoenix darts in and rocks Damage with a punch straight to the jaw. The fans pop wildly as Damage stagers backwards, eyes glaze, before collapsing to the canvas. The ref gets in Phoenix's face yelling about closed fist punches but "The War Machine" doesn't take notice and pounces on the fallen " Narcissist" and gains a very MMA-eque mount.

Tazz: Whoa! Phoenix nearly knocked his block off with that shot.
Jim Ross: I'm getting some information about this young man Raymond Phoenix; he's a former mixed martial artist and holds a black-belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu as well as being a former amateur wrestler.
Tazz: That's one impressive resume...

Back in the ring Phoenix still has Damage mounted and is throwing punches whenever he sees an opening. Suddenly Damage reaches up and drives his finger deep into "The War Machine's" eye! Phoenix scrambles backwards from the unexpected tactic holding his face while the fans express their feeling for Damage with a good chorus of "Damage Sucks! (clap clap clapcalpcalp)" chats. "The Narcissist" isn't daunted by the chant and in fact takes little heed to it as he gets back to his feet as he can and advances toward the blinded "War Machine."Damage stalks up behind Raymond as he's bent over trying to get his eyes to work again and hits a measured stomp to the back of his knee. Phoenix's knee give out to the shot and "The War Machine" give out a cry of surprise as he falls to a kneeling position. Damage sees an opening and takes it, locking a sleeper hold onto his kneeling opponent looking to strangle a victory out of Phoenix. The crowd boos as the ref moves in to check on Phoenix but they fears are groundless as a mili-second later Raymond slips out of sleeper and drives Damage to the mat by locking in a reverse armbar! After getting over the shock of the tables turning, Damage manages to slither out of the hold by grabbing onto the nearby bottom rope. The fans again boo but the ref has no choice and demands "The War Machine" break the hold. Phoenix doesn't seem to understand the ref's request at first but then reluctantly lets Damage go.

JR: Very quick reversal there by Phoenix.
Tazz: No kidding JR, but this guys backing my hinder him somewhat, so far he's been warned about closed fists and rope breaks by or official.
JR: And as much as I hate to admit it and despite his match tactics, or rather because of them, Damage is not a man to be taken lightly and is a dangerous competitor.

Phoenix is back to his feet in the ring and is standing ready in the ring with his dukes up waiting for Damage to get back up. "The Narcissist" is kneeling and holding onto the middle rope as he watches Phoenix, his cold calculating eyes looking for any advantage he can get. Slowly, oh so slowly, Damage gets back to his feet and starts to circle the ring with the ready "War Machine" following his example. After a few circuits of the ring, and a few fake advances by Raymond, Damage abruptly stops and boldly swaggers toward Phoenix. The larger Damage stops a few inches out of Phoenix's reach and stares his down before suddenly reaching out and slapping "The War Machine" across the face! The fans boo as Phoenix reels, more in shock then pain, and then his anger flares and he rushes toward Damage. But this was all a set up and the cunning Damage takes advantage of Raymond's momentum to deliver his Collateral Damage spinebuster! Damage quickly covers Phoenix looking for the shock victory;
